The long awaited Dragons 2011 season got underway at Kila Bar on Saturday 19th February, with the launch of the inaugural Dragons Draft. The off season has seen a reshuffle at Dragons Headquarters, forming what some have suggested as the most powerful committee in Asian football. One of the committee’s key objectives for 2011 has been the formation of the South China Australian Football League (SCAFL), which will be played out between 2 Hong Kong teams (Red and Blue), Guangzhou Scorpions and the Macau Lightning.

With a few key members in absentia, the remaining player group gathered at Kila Bar (the clubs new Friday night sponsor) for what was to be a key night in the formation of the two HK teams for the SCAFL. With the HK Reds Captain, Dwight Stutchbery, out of the country on business, Vice Captain Brendan “Keano” Kean stepped into the hot seat for draft. The HK Blues Captain, Dominic “Bowski” Dunn, kicked the evening off selecting Jarrad Crighton as the 2011 Number 1 draft pick. Keano’s first selection was somewhat of a surprise to the crowd, with his selection of Gary “Wino” Wines, the experienced hard nose defender. The remaining picks for the evening went pretty much as expected with Bowski drafting a number of running utilities types and Keano drafting a number of taller options and key defenders.

If you dont see your name on the list and wsh to play send me an email (president@hk-dragons) and i will allocate you to a team. It’s more than likely an oversight.

These are the teams that will remain throughout the 2011 SCAFL competition.
