"Playing football with antlers was always going to be a challenge"

Committe opening

With the departure of club treasurer and merchandiser Nico from Hong Kong, and the stepping down of committee member Byrne early in the year, your club now needs another hand on deck. The number of blokes now involved in the surprisingly time-consuming role of running the club is at a minimum.

The club is now seeking a mamber to step up to the plate to take on the role of Merchandising Manager, to order, sell, store and manage the club's playing gear, tour shirts and accessories. Nico managed to handle this with the treasury but the current board has absorbed the finance side of the portfolio.

At Present the committee is quite heavily burdened, with the new portfolio distribution as follows:
Boges - President, Media/Website Manager, Sponsorship Manager (major new announcement coming soon, in this regard).
Stoochy - Tour Manager, Treasurer (Boges/Stooch now the club's registered bank signatories).
Baby Dragon/Bowski - Co-organisers of the Social Ministry.

A committee meeting will be held at Bulldogs on Wednesday 7pm (June 11), with all current ministers confirmed. All members are welcome to attend but we would especially like to fill this vacancy by Wednesday.

Email president@hk-dragons.com if you would like to help the club.

Also on the agenda Wednesday is upcoming tours, finances, major new sponsorship, social events (including the June 28 Dragons Junk Trip), merchandise, tour short production, media and promotion and more. If you want have a say, come down, or email your thoughts and suggestions to president@hk-dragons.com

Connor Finnegan - "Dad's wit and charm" (but too young for Auskick)

Birth notices
Mick Finnegan has, via his lovely wife Sonia, dropped another one. Connor Michael Finnegan, entered the Dragons Junior Training Programme at 10.28am Monday morning. Not that long ago it was Dad getting in at 10.28am on Monday mornings. How times change. But back to Connor - he came in at 3.3kg (7lb 3.5oz) and according to Dad "was winking at the nurse and appears to have his father's wit, charm and great sense of humour." Lucky lad. The little fella has two older sisters.

Dwarfing the opposition
Overheard recently:
Dragon one: "We should get to Manila as early as possible on the Friday of the tour. It's a good city to walk around."
Dragon two: "No it's not! What is there to see when 'walking around' Manila?"
Dragon One: "I dunno. Lotsa stuff. Dwarf bars and stuff."

New past player profile
An old Dragon has gotten in touch with the club to praise its professionalism in the modern era. Check out what The Fridge has to reminisce about at the bottom of the Past Players section.

Here is what Fridge had to say via email from Melbourne: "As a former Dragons player (circa 2001-02), I have only just been directed to your website and thought I'd drop you a line to say what a credit the site is for the great game of Australian Rules Football."

"It is fantastic to see that the Dragons continue to provide the global benchmark for the game. My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that Farmer is made to look far too intelligent in his profile photograph."
Regards, Peter 'Fridge' Sexton

Doing the business
Dragons business cards, in their very own embossed logo card holders, are now located at the entrance to Bulldogs LKF and on the bar, front row centre, at Bulldogs Wan Chai. Grab some off the president for your wallet next time you see him and get recruiting.

Manila Tour
The Dragons will be part of a six-team super tournament in Manila, hosted by the Eagles, from May 30 - June 1. Be sure to book that Friday off work ASAP and be ready for what promises to be a sensational tour. Confirm your intended presence by emailing Steroid Stooch on tours@hk-dragons.com
Full tour details to follow later in the month.

Pay up now
All dragons need to do the following:
Pay your subs. Thanks to very stringent audit controls by the committee (namely keeping Byrne away from the bank account) we are pleased to be able to say that the rampant inflation in China will not affect us and subs will still be maintained at 2006 levels of HK$500.

Name: Hong KongDragons Australian Rules Football Club
Bank: HSBC
Account No.: 502-413594-838

Once you have paid send an email to chris.nicolay@gs.com with the confirmation number so we can record it. We also have a new initiative this year, called "no pay no play no exceptions". Manila included.
