Footy is back.
Smear the dencorub, pry out the dried mud-caked socks from last season and snap a lace in exuberance as you don the boots for season 2008.
Training starts on March 9 at 6 pm - 7.30pm at Happy Valley. Lock in that date and 4.30 - 6pm on Sunday of the following week as well.
The Manila tour is shaping up as a true classic, with five teams now confirmed for the May 31 fixture. Along with the Eagles at home and the Dragons, China (a Beijing/Shanghai combo), Malaysia and Dubai are also confirmed. This shapes up as one of the biggest tours outside the Asian Champs in terms of competitors. As all previous tourists to Manila can attest, the ground also ranks as probably the best venue in Asian footy.
Last season was obviously an historic one for the Dragons and this year promises to be even grander, both on and off the field. Some great tours away and epic social events at home loom.
As well as the training, the Dragons new tandem Social Committee of Bowski and Tommy Polka have issued a challenge for everyone remotely connected to the club to get on down for a throffing at the club's first official social event for 2008. The Season Opening Session Night is being held at benevolent sponsor Bulldogs LKF on Sat night, March 15. A must for all and sundry. It will be large.
New incentives are being drawn up to benefit all fully-paid members this year, so get behind the club you love and the club that loves you in a way your family never will.
The Dragons Lair is open. Bouncedown.
Some key dates for 2008:
Feb 27, Tues: First full meeting of the new committee , Bulldogs, Lan Kwai Fong, 7.30pm.
May 30-June 1: Manila for comp vs Jakarta, Philippines and Dubai Dingoes. Confirmed.
